SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Baystate Medical Center announced Monday that the MassMutual Wing will be the first phase of its “Hospital of the Future” building project.
The Springfield-based company donated $3 million to support the construction of the new facility.
The MassMutual Wing will house the Davis Family Heart and Vascular Center, which includes six surgical and endovascular suites.
"This is a replacement of some very outdated facilities here at our main campus, Baystate Medical Center," said Mark Tolosky, President and CEO of Baystate Health. "We had a capital campaign to support this, a $23 million goal, and our friends at MassMutual Financial Group stepped-up early in the campaign, and committed $3 million to the project, which was just incredibly gracious and generous."
Baystate’s entire Hospital of the Future project will cost $296 million. The building is expected to open in March 2012.
