SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A bill was introduced in the senate Thursday that would regulate the online sale of puppies.
When the animal welfare act was introduced 40 years ago, the internet didn't exist so anyone who sells animals online is exempt.
The legislation would close that loophole.
"The animals purchased over the internet are coming from puppy mills the breeders of these puppies have dollar signs in mind and that's virtually all they care about,” Candy Lash told 22News.
A similar bill was introduced in 2011 and failed in committee.
