THREE RIVERS, Mass. (WWLP) - For the first time in more than four decades, Three Rivers has a new fire chief.
Scott Turner was sworn in Tuesday morning to lead the department, which primarily responds to calls in the Three Rivers village of Palmer.
Chief Turner told 22News that his father, himself a former firefighter, deserves a lot of credit for his success.
“He's the whole reason I always wanted to become a firefighter. I never wanted anything else, that's really because of him. I got an idea of the lifestyle and the family atmosphere that comes along with this from him,” Turner said.
Turner replaces Chief Patrick O' Connor, who is retiring. O'Connor told 22News that he is going to be staying in the area for the next few years.
