SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Attorney Laura Gentile of Springfield was sworn in as the new Hampden County Clerk of Courts Wednesday.

Retired superior court Judge Brian McDonald led the swearing-in, held at Gentile's alma mater Western New England University.

Gentile has worked as the Assistant Clerk of Courts for 16 years, and she told 22News that experience will serve her well as she moves into her new role. “I know the frustrations that the lawyers have experienced, that the judges have experienced, that the clerks have. I think I have a different sort of perspective.”

Gentile told 22News one of her goals is to get a website up and running that will be a useful resource for Hampden County residents, and hopefully save time in the courts.
