WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - An estimated 44 million Americans, most of them women, are at risk of fracture due to Osteoporosis. But Women's Health Associates in Westfield has the latest technology that could help prevent broken bones.

This bone density software gives a clearer picture for doctors and patients. People cannot feel their bones getting weaker. Now there is a tool that determines the likelihood of fracture in the next ten years.

"It's kind of a silent thing until it presents itself with a break. Also a lot of women the bones in their back will crush as they're going along, that's general the osteoporosis will cause the bones to decrease," said Lori Stouden, certified bone density technician.

According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 80 percent of those affected by Osteoporosis are women.
