SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It's the last weekend to enjoy all-you-can-eat, those last few cigarettes, and lounging on your couch. Many of us plan to put our list of resolutions into effect on Tuesday.
We'll all turn to a new page in a new calendar-- so what better time to turn over a new leaf in our lives?
New year, new you. No matter how we've fared with hopeful lists of resolutions in years past, it's hard to ignore the opportunity for a fresh start-- perhaps a start of the journey to smaller clothes.
You may have thought you were done fighting crowds now that your holiday shopping is over. But for at least the start of January you'll be once again fighting the crowds for a treadmill as many people tackle weight loss on their list of resolutions.
“Clean my house, read more. I love to read. And to take a trip down south,” said Peg Bielunis of Holyoke.
“That I will always tell the truth no matter how much it might hurt somebody's feelings. Just to be more honest. Instead of always trying to accommodate everybody and sometimes I get lost in the shuffle there,” said Annalie Hudson Minter of Philadelphia.
While most are looking ahead to a new year, some people see it as the perfect time to look behind us.
“I don't think I make like yearly resolutions, I just try to reflect on the year past see what I could do better or different in the next year,” said 16-year-old Gillian Wenhold.
“It's nice to be able to put everything behind and start over, even though there's not much of a change. Just the last two numbers in the year. It's nice to start over,” said Jackie Miller of Northampton.
And if you do slip up with your new year's resolutions, it doesn't mean you've failed. Be realistic, give yourself some room for error, especially if you're gearing up for a big change.
