SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - There is no mid-winter vacation for Springfield school children this year.
While students in other districts have the day off, Springfield children are spending their traditional vacation time making up for the schools days they missed after the Halloween weekend snowstorm.
A group of third graders at the Elias Brookings Elementary School told 22News that they don't mind going to school this week.
Jenae’ Brown said that she isn’t disappointed “Because in this school, you learn really fun things and we get to learn something new every day.”
“We learn important stuff about reading and math,” third grader Eliajah Wright said.
Because their school was badly damaged during the June 1 tornado, Brookings students attend class in a nearby temporary school building.
