SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A third fire in the past 24 hours has been put out at 107 Harvard Street in Springfield.
Dennis Leger, Aide to the Fire Commissioner, told 22News they received a call just before 5 a.m. about the fire from Springfield Police officers who were patrolling the neighborhood.
When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was billowing from the second and third stories of the home.
Neighbors say that the house is mostly empty except for the son of the deceased owner of the home who occasionally drops by to check on the property.
This was the third fire of the night for local firefighters, another in Springfield and a garage fire in South Hadley .
