SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A popular networking website has confirmed that some stolen passwords match up with LinkedIn accounts.
Six-and-a-half million passwords were posted on a Russian online forum, this week. LinkedIn isn't saying how the passwords were stolen.
The company also isn't describing the extent of the damage, but it does say it is investigating the security breach.
Many people 22News spoke to said that as long as it's not their Facebook password, they aren't too concerned.
“LinkedIn is basically a resume and recommendations, and then just connections that are mostly professionally-based. So it's not a big concern if somebody accesses your resume versus someone accessing pictures of you from college,” Nicole Sobul of Longmeadow said.
The good news is that so far, no user names have been spotted on the list, but experts say it's a good idea to change your LinkedIn password just in case.
