CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - It is still four days away, but stores are already preparing and shoppers are lined up for Black Friday.
"I work at Walmart here and 1:00 in the morning is just way to early for anyone to get up. It's crazy. I mean, you know, for what? To get a TV? It's not worth it, " said Bob Finnegan from Springfield.
A new survey reveals 33-percent of Americans think the annual shopping tradition, known as Black Friday, is starting too soon this year.
Many stores, including Walmart, Sears, and Toys R Us, are opening at 8:00 Thursday night.
"I think all major holidays, people should be able to spend with their families and not have to worry about working," said Kelly Schindler, whose mom is working Thanksgiving Day.
But stores are pushing their promotions in spite of some of the backlash.
With holiday sales expected to be up more than 4-percent this year, the race to get the 147-million expected shoppers in the door is on.
