PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - A carriage horse involved in a high-profile accident in Manhattan is taking a break from the city life, and spending it here in Western Massachusetts.
Oreo arrived at the Blue Star Equiculture farm in Palmer Wednesday afternoon.
Two weeks ago, the six year old gelding got spooked by falling scaffolding and broke away from his carriage. The driver and passengers suffered minor injuries when the carriage tipped over.
"His owner decided that it would be in his best interest to come here and rest for a while. He's young he's about six years old. In the next few weeks we'll see how he does. We're not sure how this accident impacted him," Blue Star Equiculture Director Pamela Rickenbach told 22News.
Oreo joins 30 other horses on the farm, many of them retired carraige horses.
The farm also offers a variety of programs where people can have hands-on contact with these horses. For information, click here .
