WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Just when we thought Spring was around the corner, and it literally is, another winter storm coated western Massachusetts with snow.
All day Tuesday, it snowed... rained... then snowed some more.
That meant more shoveling and snowblowing, instead of getting for Spring. But some people said, they didn't mind waking up to a fresh coating of snow.
Eloiza Vargas of Springfield told 22News “It's pretty. We can get to play with it. I just love it. When I was in Florida. I was always in the house, in AC. I couldn't stand it.”
But for others... snow in mid-March wasn't exactly what they wanted.
Most western Massachusetts cities and towns got 3-8 inches of snow. New Englanders told 22News snow in March isn't unexpected, but they are ready for Spring.
Ronald Piteo of West Springfield said “I was hoping it was the end, but I also know that I think back in 1978 we had a big snowstorm on Easter Sunday, which was April 1st. I'm hoping for Spring. Yep. It brings baseball. I like baseball, so I'm rooting for that.”
Leo Maheux of Westfield told 22News “I'm from New England, so I'm used to it surprising us now and then. I'm done. I'm ready. I have a boat and go out on the river, and that's what I want to do.”
As the snow begins to mix to sleet and freezing rain, watch out for black ice Wednesday morning.
Temperatures are dropping while slush remains on the ground, so slow down during your morning commute.
