SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A video of a Malaysian woman hitting her baby girl has gone viral on social networking sites.

22News received many emails concerning this clip , which shows a woman sitting on a bed, hitting a baby with a pillow and her hands, and kicking the child. The video goes on for four minutes.

22News brought it to the Medical Director of Baystate Medical Center's Family Advocacy Center in Springfield. Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Boos said that this is much too common.

“I've seen so much worse than that--regularly--and then there's so much that we don't see,” Boos said. "So this is not uncommon in any way... It's very common in our society."

If you know about any cases of child abuse you can contact the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families at (413) 452-3200 in the Springfield area, (413) 775-5000 in Franklin or Hampshire Counties, or (413) 445-4507 in Berkshire County.

Information about reporting child abuse is also available on DCF’s website.

Note: The video is very violent. User discretion advised.
