PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - People who live in Palmer took their first look Sunday at the town's brand new historical and cultural center.
The building on Main Street in the Three Rivers section of town was built in 1850. It had been the Union Evangelical church until last year.
Now it's home to the town's artifacts. The first visitors seemed quite pleased with Palmer's first historical center.
“I think this is fantastic,” said Jim Auchter, who grew up in Palmer. “We hate to see this building go to waste. There's a lot of history here at the same time it's a new thing for the town.”
Organizers have started using portions of the former church as a cultural center for musical performances.
