SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield police say that a woman has died after she was hit by a car on Main Street in the city's North End on Monday afternoon.
Sgt. Steven Wyszinski of the Springfield Police Traffic Bureau told 22News that the woman was struck by the car around 12:15 P.M.
She was brought to the Baystate Medical Center by ambulance, but Capt. Thomas Trites says that she has since died. Her name is not being released at this time.
Police have reopened Main Street between the intersections of Main and Arch Street and Main and Jefferson Avenue.
Capt. Trites told 22News that they found the car and driver who struck the woman on Main Street. The driver's name has not been released.
