Police break up "mini riot"

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - West Springfield Police broke up what they called a mini riot at 903 Main Street early Saturday morning.

Sgt. Michael Banas told 22news that 400 people at a birthday party were involved in the riot around 12:30 a.m.

Banas said, with the help of the Springfield Police Department and Massachusetts State Police, it took 30 minutes to stop the fight.

One person was taken into protective custody.

No injuries were reported.
