FEEDING HILLS, Mass. (WWLP) - A power outage in Feeding Hills Center may be to blame for a crash at the intersection of Routes 57 and 187 Tuesday morning.
Agawam Police Sgt. Tony Grasso told 22News that just before 9:00, the power was out in Feeding Hills Center. One of the two cars involved in the crash was going northwest from South Westfield Street while the other was traveling west from Springfield Street. Grasso said neither car yielded at the intersection where the traffic lights were out, and they collided.
One of the cars, a Ford Taurus, flipped over onto its roof, and eyewitnesses helped the driver get out of her overturned, smoking car.
The woman driving that car was taken to the hospital, but Grasso said that she is expected to be okay.
No citations have been issued to either driver.
During the time of the accident, power was out to more than 1,000 customers in Agawam, according to WMECo’s website. Electricity has since been restored to all of the town.
