Presidents' Day not a day off for many workers

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Presidents’ Day is known for big sales on cars and appliances, but some are not able to enjoy the savings with a day off.

Workers for government institutions such as schools, libraries, and most service agencies have the day off, as do many workers in the private sector. Still, plenty of people have to be at work, such as contractor Michael Drewnowski of Feeding Hills, who told 22News he had to make the trek out to Milton.

“It doesn’t matter to me at all. I’m used to working holidays, we don’t get many of them off,” Drewnowski said. “I have a lot of contractors still working today.”

Presidents’ Day honors all American presidents, especially George Washington and Abraham Lincoln who were both born in the month of February.
