CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - People who do business near Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee are concerned over what happens it the Pentagon moves many of the giant cargo planes to another base.
Frank Del Monte has owned the Bridge Cafe on Memorial drive near Westover since 1978. He admits business hasn't been all that good recently.
And If the Pentagon thins out the C-5 fleet to any degree, He told 22News it's bound to have a further effect on his restaurant.
You know things are pretty slow nowadays. And we can't afford to lose customers. And If they cut back, they'll be cutting back service people that come in I'm sure,” said Del Monte.
But for now the possible loss of half the cargo craft is only in the planning stages. Nothing definite yet. And those whose livelihood depends on the air reserve base, they hope nothing changes
