HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Someone named Alan Gilburg won a three-year lease for a new Hyndai Elantra from Gary Rome Hyundai. The raffle was part of a unique fundraiser to support Holyoke Public Library's expansion and renovation project. They've already raised $2 million of the $2.5 million goal.

The new library will have a glass curtain revealing much of the old building on Maple Street.

"And parts of the old library will be visible from the new library,” said Terry Plum, Board President of the Holyoke Public Library. “So in front you'll be able to touch the outside of the old library from the new library from under glass."

The library renovation is considered key to the new focus and revitalization of Downtown Holyoke.

They plan to complete construction next summer and open the library by October.
