SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Many of you may have opted to stay in on Saturday night once those flurries began falling.
Those who did have to venture out soon found they weren't going to get anywhere fast. Plows struggled to keep up with the quickly accumulating snowfall; the roads were slick and visibility is low. One woman called in to tell us she was going just 20 miles per hour along 91. Earlier in the evening people were moving along quicker but not by much.
“It's barely drivable,” said Chapin Bates, who was driving to Vermont at the time. “People are going 35 mph, so it's a skating rink out there.”
“Everything is just completely flooded with snow, it's crazy,” said Rainer Rosario of Springfield. “I'm hoping it's not going to be so bad but from the looks of it, I don't know, it might get worse.”
