The closed-door meetings with MGM, Ameristar, Hard Rock, and Penn National, will come ahead of a public news announcement the Mayor has scheduled for this afternoon.

The meetings were scheduled by Springfield’s Chief Development Officer, Kevin Kennedy.

Hard Rock was the first to meet with the Mayor, with Ameristar representatives meeting with Sarno at 9:15.  Ameristar met with Sarno around 10:00, Penn National was scheduled to meet with the Mayor around 11:15, with a final meeting being with MGM around 12:15.

Tom Walsh, aide to Mayor Sarno, told 22News that during the afternoon announcement, the city's casino selection process will be detailed.

Walsh said that following a future vote by the Mayor and City Council, Springfield will announce one or more proposals to advance to the Gaming Commission.
