SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A high school student and bus driver were taken to the hospital after a crash involving a mini-school bus in Springfield Wednesday afternoon.

Officer Ed Hiney from the Traffic Bureau told 22News a 14-year old boy from Commerce High School and the bus driver were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Officer Hiney says it appears the bus was attempting to turn onto Berkshire Ave from Cottage Street when it struck another car.

The owner of a nearby diner told 22News it's a dangerous intersection that needs a traffic light. Rufus Kynard, who witnessed the accident, told 22News, “Been happening a lot here, but there's no light. There needs to be a light here on this corner. I’ve been here now for five years and I have seen several bad accidents here at this intersection of Cottage and Berkshire Avenue.”

That accident has since been cleared and traffic is now moving.
