SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A 16 year old boy has been arrested for the murder of 38 year old Antonio Gonzalez.

Friends and family of Gonzalez gathered today at the spot where he died in front of 305 Bay Street in Springfield.

Neighbors told 22News a late night teenage house party at 294 Bay Street was out of control.

Antonio Gonzalez lived on nearby Marion Street.

His wife told 22News Antonio was an innocent bystander, attempting to intervene when a group of teens began fighting in the road just before 2 am Saturday morning.

That's when the 16 year old shot him.

Friends and family of Gonzalez say it's a situation that could have been prevented if parents were doing their jobs.

“It's just, wrong place at the wrong time. Innocent people. Violence. When is it going to stop? Where are the parents? What's going on guys? Would you let your child, 16 years old, out after 2,” neighbor Nathan Privette said.

The 16 year old's identity has not been released.

This was Springfield's seventh murder of the year.
