SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It has been days since Saturday's snow fall, but many sidewalks in our area remain treacherous.
Springfield City Ordinance requires homeowners and businesses shovel the sidewalks along their property within 24 hours of the last snow fall.
Pedestrians tell 22News the snow isn't the problem, it's the ice. According to Andrea Lopez of Springfield, "Absolutely you have to be careful it's really bad, a lot of ice on the ground, and yeah, I think people need to take more care cleaning up."
Dean Dre of North Carolina told 22news, "Man it's slippery, my friends have been joking with me that I'm walking wildly, I'm not trying to fall. They need to put some salt down, shovel or do something downtown."
Property owners can be held liable if someone is injured.
