SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield police officers were attacked Sunday night after responding to what they call an out-of-control house party.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that police were called to break up a fight outside a large house party at 29 Cameron Street around 9:15 P.M. Once the police got there, he says, they found a crowd of about 100 people watching a domestic-type fight outside the apartment buildings.

As two police officers got out of their cruiser, they were attacked from behind. They made a distress call to have all available cars respond to Cameron Street, and when the additional officers arrived, Delaney says tthose officers too were attacked.

Lt. Alberto Ayala told 22News that at one point, a female officer was assaulted with a glass beer bottle.

Six adults were arrested for various charges including assault on an officer and resisting arrest. They are:

  • Omar Rivera, 31, of 318 Franklin St., Springfield
  • Iris Rivera, 35, of 44 Naismith St., Springfield
  • Miguel (Angel) Rivera, 33, of 174 Middle St., Springfield
  • Carlos Rivera-Medina, 38, of 4 Joseph St., Springfield
  • Michael Rivera, 21, of 9 Nelson Ave., Springfield
  • Emmanuel Rivera, 27, of 1162 Liberty St., Springfield

One prisoner was taken to Baystate Medical Center with injuries.

None of the officers were seriously injured.
