SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Neighbors in Springfield's Six Corners neighborhood are banding together against a burglar.

Johanna Monroy told 22News a thief has been breaking into homes and garages on Marshall Street, stealing lawn equipment and other items.

Monroy woke up Thursday morning to find her brand new lawn mower gone, along with a chainsaw and a bike.

For the many tornado victims still recovering in this neighborhood, the recent thefts have just added insult to injury.

According to Monroy, “We're watching. We have each other's back. We want to find you, and we're going to find you eventually if you keep doing this. It's just not fair. It's not fair for us. We work hard.”

Johanna told 22News she spotted the thief, a black teenage boy around 5 foot 7 inches tall. Springfield Police are aware of the break-ins.

If you have any information, you can text-a-tip.
