CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Eastbound traffic is traveling at 30 miles per hour between Chicopee and Sturbridge on the Mass pike.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation "511" service, there is heavy traffic congestion between interchange 6 and interchange 9, which is route 84 in Sturbridge. That trip will take a driver 30 minutes to complete with the amount of traffic reported just after 10:30 pm Friday night. Traffic's been slow heading east since just before supper time.

511 says the congestion is caused by a construction project, but there is also more traffic on the road because of the start of the holiday weekend.
