HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Some people are urging lawmakers to expand a green energy program called net metering.
Members of the Environment Massachusetts Research and Policy Center released a report Tuesday that reveals which Massachusetts communities lead the state in solar power.
Environment Massachusetts regional director, Johanna Neumann, told 22News Holyoke ranks second next to Boston, and its important to continue the switch to green energy.
“If we don’t expand that program, all the growth we’ve seen in the solar industry runs the risk of being cut off at the knees. So, we urge our lawmakers to expand this successful program and keep this industry growing,” Neumann said.
Neumann added that green energy saves money, making it attractive for people and businesses to move into the area.
