SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield's South End Streetscape improvement project will begin on Wednesday.

Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Greg Bialecki says the project site, known as the Dwight Street Extension, will improve the physical roadway condition, traffic flow and on-street parking.

Bialecki says the upgrades will also accommodate pedestrian activities and improve safety in the area.

The project was supported by a $1.2 million MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant.
