Sheriff's deputy struck by pickup truck in Southwick

Deputy expected to recover from injuries

SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) - A Hampden County Sheriff's Deputy has been taken to the hospital, after being struck by a pickup truck on College Highway just before noon Wednesday.

Southwick Police Lt. David Ricardi told 22News that the deputy, who is assigned to law enforcement, was taken to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance after being hit by the truck on College Highway near Feeding Hills Road, an area where there is ongoing construction.

Ricardi said that the deputy is expected to recover from the injuries, and is listed in good condition.

Southwick police are continuing to look into the cause of the accident, no citations have yet been issued.
