SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Avoiding a speeding ticket could be just a click away on your cell phone.

With a new mobile phone application for smart phones like Blackberries and iPhones called Trapster.

It uses GPS to pinpoint your location and any speed traps where police are known to hide.

It also alerts you to check points, red light/speed cameras, accidents, and roadway hazards and live police action.

One person told 22news the controversial app could force people to drive safer.

“It would be nice for kids if they are drinking not to drive, knowing where the bad things are. You could also have kids looking down at their phones. They could get caught doing that too. Its good and bad, we'll have to wait and see,” Nick Palmero of Springfield said.

You can also alert other users and tell them whenever you see checkpoint or police stopping a speeder.

You can download the free application from your phone's Internet browser.
