SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Just 30 minutes after a fire on Grove Street in Springfield that left 10 people homeless, firefighters were called to 148 Canon Circle for a kitchen fire there.

Aide to the Fire Commissioner Dennis Leger told 22News that a woman had been inside cooking food using her stove. Her apartment lost power, so she left for choir practice.

Leger said the fire started when the power company restored power, re-energizing the stove.

The fire damaged the apartment, but no other units in the complex, which is located along the East Longmeadow town line.

Leger said that due to the damage, the woman won't be able to live there.
