SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield Police Officer Eleni Mendez is due in court in Connecticut on charges related to a domestic disturbance.

She was arrested at her home in Somers, Connecticut earlier in January after allegedly damaging another woman's Mercedes Benz with a shovel.

Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Mendez is considered "injured on duty" and has not returned to work since suffering a severe concussion trying to break up a fight in November.

Officer Mendez is facing several charges including criminal mischief, breach of peace and reckless endangerment.

Springfield Police Officer Eleni Mendez of Somers, CT was not arraigned in court Wednesday in Rockville, CT. Her case was continued until February 27th. She did not enter a plea, she will be arraigned on February 27th.

Pedro Mendez of the same address in Somers, CT also had his case continued until February 27th in Court GA19 in Rockville, CT. He didn't plea but is scheduled for arraignment on February 27th.
