Springfield awarded for financial reporting

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The City of Springfield is being recognized for excellence in reporting finances.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded Springfield its highest honor for financial reporting and government accounting. The awards are given to communities that put together their financial reports in a way most transparent to the public.

According to Thomas Walsh, Communications Director for Mayor Domenic Sarno, Springfield was cited for encouraging the reading of the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), which is available on the City’s website.
