SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Newtown tragedy has compelled many people in the Valley to show their support in whatever way they can.

One Springfield family decided to make ribbons in honor of the young victims. Annette Barrows told 22News they've been handing the ribbons out to anyone who would take them. She says it's their way of showing solidarity.

“Me and my mom started thinking what can we do to honor and keep in the memory and spirit, and that's when we decided to come up with the ribbon,” Barrows told 22News.

The white represents the teachers killed in the massacre. The pink and blue represent the boys and girls.
