Springfield Jewish Federation holds phone-a-thon

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It is also Super Sunday for the Springfield Jewish Federation.

Volunteers manned the phones for the Federation's Super Sunday Phone-a-thon.at the Springfield Jewish community center.

They called Jewish families throughout Western Massachusetts, raising money for Jewish programs locally and throughout the world.

Some are first time volunteers; others have been at it a long time.

Steven Dane, “I've been a volunteer here essentially all my life. And I've been honored to be on the board. It is now my 29th year on the board and I'm currently president.”

“It's really important that we give back to the community. The local Jewish community and also the Jewish community internationally. There's a lot of people that need our help,” Jeremy Powers said.

This is the 85th year the Springfield Jewish Federation has raised money for a network of organizations that help Jewish communities and individuals.
