SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield man is allowed to stay in his home, thanks to the work of the 'No One Leaves' organization.

Jose Mendez has lived in this house on Talmadge Drive for almost eight years. He and his wife were unfortunately facing eviction, and that's when 'No one Leaves' stepped in. Now Jose's bank has granted them a chance to catch up with rent. Jose told 22News he was touched that complete strangers came into his home to support him.

“Thank you, God. Thank you to the people who helped me. That's very good, very nice. I feel great right now,” Mendez said.

Jose and his wife had to travel back to South America recently because his mother passed away; Jose's wife stayed there longer, and he's so happy she'll get to come back to her home.
