SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - They raced through downtown Springfield Sunday for the first annual Springfield Museums 5K Run/Walk.

The latest of the downtown races began on Edwards Street in the shadow of the Springfield Museums complex.

The inaugural event attracted dozens of people who chose to either run or walk their way to the finish line.

“It's a great thing you know, staying in shape. Great day, weather's great and also it benefits the Museums of Springfield and it's great to give back to the city,” said David Sosarebatz of Springfield.

When they finished the race, participants got to visit the museums of their choice free of charge.
