SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A 42 year-old man shot multiple times Wednesday morning is Springfield’s second homicide victim of the year.
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that police went to Monmouth Street in the city’s McKnight neighborhood just before 6:00 A.M., when they received a call about shots fired, and the city’s “shot spotter” system activated.
Police found a 42 year-old, identified as Jimmie Acevedo , lying near the street. He had been shot several times.
Delaney says the victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center, where he died around 6:30.
No information on suspects has been released, but police are continuing to investigate.
