SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Spirited prayers of thanks Tuesday night occurred in Springfield's Court Square.

They called it " Grateful Hearts Together: a service of prayerful thanks.

People of all faiths worshipped together Tuesday night in the Old First Church in Springfield's Court Square.

The Greater Springfield Council of Churches hosts this interfaith service every year at this time.

"The spiritual side of us.  I think that's the part we would all agree is the most work, the most maintenance.  Any time you can come out and work on building up the spiritual aspect of who you are, I think it's important and this is a great opportunity to do that,” CEO of the Springfield YMCA Kirk Smith said.

"I think it’s an amazing event.  I think it's awesome.  I think everyone should take part in this because we all have to take the time to give thanks at this time of year,” Patrick Moore said.

About one hundred people participated in Tuesday night's interfaith service, donating to the Emergency Fuel Fund to help need family’s heat their homes this winter.
