SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield superintendent Daniel Warwick says they're suspending all swim classes through the district as the investigation into the drowning of a student at Kiley Middle School continues.

One week ago, a 12 year-old boy drowned in the Kiley pool during gym class. The district attorney’s office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boy's death.

Warwick says they have consulted with state officials over whether proper swimming guidelines were being followed at the school.

He says the state found that the school was operating within the guidelines.
