SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield Police have their hands full as the city's third shooting in three days ends with the 10th murder of the year.

It happened during a house party on Edgeland Street around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Springfield Detective Captain Peter Dillon told 22News, Springfield teenager James "Junior" Rosario was killed after getting shot.

"We were all proud of him you know, these days to come out like he was, he was a perfect", says Rosario's uncle Ivan Rosa.

Rosario was killed after being shot multiple times. .Springfield Police Captain Cheryl Claprood told 22News the gunman, or gunmen fired 12-14 shots at Rosario as a house party was breaking up around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Neighbors told 22News, the popping of the gun woke them up.

"It's just not right, you know, in Springfield, we all out here trying to struggle and survive at the same time it's the youth that's killing the youth", says Springfield's Mike Steveson.

Springfield's 10th murder of the year happened on Edgeland Street. Neighbors told 22News this street is generally safe but some people who live in this Forest Park neighborhood are starting to feel trapped.

"There's Belmont and Sumner Ave., it's like a moat, I can't let my kids go out at certain times, because I'm afraid what's going to happen to them", says Springfield's Marc McClure.

This was the 3rd shooting in 3 days in Springfield.

On Thursday, a 16-year-old boy was found shot in the Forest Park neighborhood. Police told 22News he was shot on Washington Street. The boy is fighting for his life in the hospital.

On Friday night another man was shot in Springfield's Mason Square Section. It happened around 8:15 p.m. at the corner of Marlborough and Wellington Streets. Springfield Police Lieutenant John Bobianski told 22News the victim was shot in the back and is not cooperating with police.

"When the summer hits that's when the criminal range goes up", says Springfield's Shaquwana Sutton.

"How come?"

"They're up to no good", says Sutton.

James Rosario is another casualty of gun violence in Springfield. His uncle told 22News, was born and raised in Springfield, graduated from Putnam Vocational High School and will definitely be missed.

"I still can't believe it, you know", says Rosa.

Police questioned more than a dozen people that were at the party, but have yet to make any arrests.
