LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Longmeadow High School students got an early jump on their winter break.
District Administrative Assistant Dianne Georgantas told 22News that the high school was closed Friday so teachers and staff can pack up their rooms in anticipation of the move into the new building.
Some students actually came into the school on Friday to help their teachers with the move. They told 22News that they are looking forward to attending classes in the new building, but they'll keep the memories of the old one.
"It's pretty cool but it's pretty sad, I'm going to miss the BTC the business area, obviously the old gym the cafeteria, but it's also very exciting to see the new building. We just went in, the new gym is unbelievable, it's crazy," Longmeadow High School student Sam Plotkin said.
Georgantas said that classes will resume in the new high school on Tuesday, February 26.
The district is off next week for winter break.
Students at other schools in the district attended classes as normal on Friday.
