SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The start of the new hockey season is still two months away, but fans will be able to put their eyes on the prize Thursday in western Mass.
Dean Lombardi is delivering the trophy to the kids and their families at Baystate Children's Hospital in Springfield.
Dean is the General Manager of the NHL Champion Los Angeles Kings. He's also originally from Ludlow.
After the trophy is toured around the medical center, it heads to the Polish American Club on East Street in Ludlow until 5:00pm.
That's where fans will be able to file in and feast their eyes on perhaps the most famous trophy in sports.
Unlike the Olympics, NHL players covet the shiny silver of the Stanley Cup, which has been awarded since 1893.
The last time the Boston Bruins took home the Stanley Cup was during the 2010-2011 season.
