SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Final preparations are underway for Wednesday's ' Star Spangled Springfield' celebration.
Pyrotechnics crews are on the Memorial Bridge right now. They'll be working throughout the day to get ready for the huge display that is sure to dazzle thousands.
Because of the fireworks, the Memorial Bridge is closed until 11PM Wednesday night.
The city-wide party gets underway at 7:30PM in Riverfront Park.
Mass Appeal hosts Seth Stutman and Ashley Kohl will be among the welcoming contingent.
The 104th Fighter Wing from Barnes Air National Guard Base will be doing a flyover and then about 150 kids from the group Dan Kane's Rising Stars will also be performing some patriotic songs.
All of that will lead up to 9:30PM, when the fireworks begin.
Literally thousands of fireworks will light up the night sky for what's sure to be a fitting tribute to this independence day bash.
'Star Spangled Springfield' is an event put on every year by the Spirit of Springfield. 22News is proud to be a sponsor.
