HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A fire ravaged a five story apartment building in Holyoke on Sunday night.

The fire started on the 100 block of Beech Street. Holyoke Fire Department Lt. Thomas Paquin told 22News they don't know what started the fire yet, but everyone got out safely.

More than 40 people were living in this apartment building; scary moments for all of these neighbors.

Nathaniel Diaz said, “The 2nd floor caught on fire and everyone exploded from the 2nd floor up it caught on fire.”

“It was big and huge and I got scared, I was crying cause I didn't know what to do,” said Alysha Ree Arroyo.

The Red Cross is helping find a place for these families to stay.
