CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Chicopee Police have arrested a Westover Job Corps student who is accused of stabbing another student in the leg with a knife.

Police Lt. Mark Higgins told 22News that Anthony Martinez, 24, of Poughkeepsie, New York, is being charged in connection with the alleged attack on Monday night.

According to Higgins, officers were called to Westover Job Corps on Johnson Road before 10:00 Tuesday morning. There, they found a 22 year-old student, who told them he had been stabbed in the leg by another Job Corps student during an altercation on the school grounds about 12 hours before.

The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and is expected to be okay.

Higgins says that officers arrested Martinez after they determined that he was the one who stabbed the student.

Higgins did not have any information as to why the victim waited to report the attack until the next day.
