SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Members of Congress won't get a vote of confidence from the hundreds of high school students at the American International College Model Congress.
AIC hosted the three day Model Congress, where high school students from four states debated and voted on sophisticated issues such as increasing U.S. oil production.
These politically minded students told 22News, the recent bickering over the Fiscal Cliff left them with few role models on Capitol Hill.
“I really enjoy politics and it just irritates me,” said Julie Lake, from Pioneer Valley Regional School. “They just can't come together and work it out.”
Fellow Pioneer Valley student Noah Kovster said, “I think it's ridiculous that they can't. It doesn't really matter about the political divide. The parties, they should get together over the country’s economy.”
Now in its 73rd year, the AIC Model Congress is the longest running event of its kind anywhere in the United States.
