WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A staged fight with lightsabers is causing a lot of commotion at Westfield High School . Two Westfield High seniors have been suspended for 10 days because of this lightsaber fight.

Kevin Carr is a senior there and said he was in the lunchroom when this happened. He explained that the two boys are friends and planned a fake lightsaber, Star Wars fight. Then they were escorted out and given the suspension and the news that they would not be walking at graduation next Friday.

This incident has prompted students to start a Facebook page protesting to let the two walk at graduation. They say the punishment is too harsh. "Nobody else got hurt from it, it wasn't during the class periods or anything so I thought it was very innocent, an innocent prank as a joke," said Carr.

But Principal Raymond Broderick says differently. "They very easily could have hit another student they could have started something different, someone could have gotten hurt and it was just a disruptive situation and they understand it's not acceptable."

Broderick did say there will be a hearing next week. He said he has received written apologies. They will discuss then whether the two will be able to walk at graduation.
